How oil reaches each country
Where the EU’s crude oil and fuel come from, as each member state reports its imports; every band’s width is proportional to tonnes.
In February 2024, the Netherlands' road diesel supply was 1,979 kt: 64% from its own refineries, with imports mainly from Belgium (8%), Germany (6%) and India (5%); tracing one step back, the crude behind it is estimated to come mainly from the United States (21%), Norway (12%) and Nigeria (7%), and 27% cannot be traced.
