Where does the EU's crude oil come from?
In June 2026, EU member states imported 37.1 million tonnes of crude oil. The largest origins were the United States (19%), Kazakhstan (13%) and Norway (12%). 0.6% was produced inside the EU, and 3% cannot be traced to a named country.

Energy basis: each import is counted under the country where the oil was produced, as the member states report it to Eurostat. “EU imports” are the sum of the 27 member states’ reported imports, including what they import from each other, so this is not the EU’s external trade.
A month is used only when all 27 member states have reported it. Shares, the 12-month figures and the change on a year are our arithmetic on the published tonnes. The part of the published totals that no named country accounts for is shown as “cannot be traced”; it is never spread over the named origins.
July 2026 is not shown yet: seven of the 27 member states have reported it.
Over the 12 months to June 2026, the largest origins were the United States (15%), Norway (14%) and Kazakhstan (12%).
Compared with June 2025, the United States' share rose by 6 points and Iraq's share fell by 5 points.
