Basis: energy statistics. All volumes are on the energy basis: the country where the oil was produced, as each EU member state reports its imports to Eurostat (dataset nrg_ti_oilm). "EU imports" is the sum of what the member states reported importing from everywhere, including from each other and the part they did not attribute to any country.
July 2026 is not used yet: only 7 of 27 member states have reported their crude oil imports for it.

Crude and products: All cited export points lie outside the Persian Gulf: Cap Lopez at Port-Gentil, plus Gamba and Oguendjo, which EIA lists as Gabon's onshore oil ports, with Gabon itself placed in the Gulf of Guinea. The Strait of Hormuz is the sole outlet of the Persian Gulf, so the Hormuz-requiring share is 0 by geographic construction, not by estimate. No live EIA Gabon brief exists; the citation is an Internet Archive snapshot of EIA's own 2008 brief.
