Basis: energy statistics. All volumes are on the energy basis: the country where the oil was produced, as each EU member state reports its imports to Eurostat (dataset nrg_ti_oilm). "EU imports" is the sum of what the member states reported importing from everywhere, including from each other and the part they did not attribute to any country.
July 2026 is not used yet: only 7 of 27 member states have reported their crude oil imports for it.

Crude and products: UNKNOWN: no citable export-point geography, because there is no export point. The National Oil Company of Liberia states plainly that Liberia is not currently producing oil and that production will begin only if commercially viable reserves are found, and that Liberia depends heavily on imported petroleum products. Crude recorded against LR as a trade partner is therefore not crude of Liberian physical origin; Liberia's prominence in tanker data is a flag-of-convenience ship-registry artefact and must never be read as production. The physical origin is not determinable from the trade partner, so the bound is the uninformative [0, 1] and the volume stays in unknown_share. Cited: nocal.com.lr. Method version 1.0.
