Supplier to the EU
In June 2026, no EU member state reported importing crude oil from Spain.
In June 2026, Spain supplied 675 kt of refined products to EU countries (3.5% of EU imports of the seven refined-product families we track), mainly to Portugal, the Netherlands and Malta.

Basis: energy statistics. All volumes are on the energy basis: the country where the oil was produced, as each EU member state reports its imports to Eurostat (dataset nrg_ti_oilm). "EU imports" is the sum of what the member states reported importing from everywhere, including from each other and the part they did not attribute to any country.
July 2026 is not used yet: only 7 of 27 member states have reported their crude oil imports for it.
- Volumes are what EU member states reported importing, by the country where the oil was produced (Eurostat nrg_ti_oilm, energy basis). They are not the partner's own export statistics, and a member state that did not list the partner has not reported a zero.
- "EU imports" is the sum of the 27 member states' reported imports, including imports from each other; it is not the EU's external trade.

Spain's crude inside EU fuel
EstimatedBy our estimate, crude from Spain is most present in the road diesel of the Netherlands (less than 1%), Belgium (less than 1%) and Ireland (less than 1%), as a share of the crude behind each country's road diesel in June 2026. This is an estimate built from trade and refinery statistics, not a reported figure.
Share: the estimated share of the crude behind each EU country’s fuel that came from Spain. All bars share one scale. Untraceable: the share of that country’s fuel whose crude cannot be traced to any origin.

Strait of Hormuz route
OfficialEvery cited export point for Spain's crude and products is outside the Persian Gulf: none needs the Strait of Hormuz.

Crude and products: All cited export points lie outside the Persian Gulf: Repsol's complexes at A Coruna (maritime terminal, 'se llevan productos ya elaborados'), Cartagena, Tarragona, Bilbao (Petronor's Port of Bilbao jetties, 40,000 t, handling LPG, asphalt and products) and inland Puertollano, plus Moeve's San Roque marine terminal and SBM on the Bahia de Algeciras and the La Rabida docks (Torre Arenillas / Reina Sofia) at the mouth of the rio Tinto. The Strait of Hormuz is the sole outlet of the Persian Gulf, so the Hormuz-requiring share is 0 by geographic construction, not by estimate. Tarragona has no site-level page from either pass and rests only on Repsol's list of complexes. Spain is also a large product re-exporter, so part of the ES volume may be re-export; that is named here rather than folded into the bounds.
