Crude refining CEASED. Capacity cells left deliberately EMPTY. Galp's own Matosinhos page states "A refinaria encerrou em maio de 2021" (https://www.galp.com/sobre-nos/o-que-fazemos/industrial-e-midstream/matosinhos) and describes demolition rather than operation: demolition began 23 October 2023, phase 1 removed 26 crude storage tanks, phase 2 (production unit structures) began September 2024 with completion expected in Q4 2026, total duration "aproximadamente tres anos". Galp's press release of 21 December 2020 announced it would be "discontinuing refining operations in Matosinhos from 2021" while keeping "import, storage and distribution facilities" (https://www.galp.com/corp/en/media/press-releases/press-release/id/1180/galp-to-concentrate-refining-operations-in-sines). STATUS CHOICE: CLOSED rather than CONVERTED. The refinery itself was shut and its units are being demolished; the logistics park that survives ("o parque logistico, que se mantem em funcionamento") is a separate adjacent asset, not a conversion of the refinery. CONVERTED would imply the refining site now does something else, which the operator's own page does not support. Independent corroboration: the EEA Industrial Emissions Portal carries "Petrogal-Refinaria do Porto" as 'functional' for reporting years 2016-2021 and 'disused' for 2022, 2023 and 2024.
